I became a fan as soon as I laid eyes on The Scarlet Veil announcement! Before then I haven't read anything in the Serpent and Dove world, but I instantly got pulled into this universe! When I had the chance to read an eARC of The Scarlet Veil, I read it in 3 days, which was the fastest I read a book in a while!!! 🧛🏻♀️🥀🧛🏻♂️
Yay!!! I found Serpent and Dove at target one day when I was looking for a new book to read after not having read for 5+ years. It SUCKED ME IN 🙌 it got me reading again like I had when I was a kid. So thanks for writing such an amazing story that brought the reader in me back to light 🫶
So I read Serpent and Dove for the first time March 2024 and was just pulled in. Finished the whole trilogy in like two weeks, which was a lot in school, but I didn’t know about Scarlet Veil until like September. Another 5 star read. Preordered Shadow Bride and so this summer I’ve done a re-read of all the books. It felt like seeing my family. I was happy and sad to say hello than goodbye again. Both Lou and Celié have impacted me more than I ever thought possible. Thank you for creating this world. Because for some of us (me) they held me while I broke. I could see myself in them and seeing them make it through gave me the strength to do it too.
You’ve just made my entire week, Alison 😭 it’s so easy to feel like we’re shouting into the void, but knowing Lou and Célie held you during hard times makes it all worth it. Consider this a hug from me as well—I hope you’re doing better now. ❤️
Hii. I am the biggest fan of serpent and dove and I was wondering if you could write 'Oblivion' (+'Ye Olde Sisters') from Reid's perspective and/or write a bonus scene where Reid asks Lou to marry him or maybe even their wedding night as a way to say goodbye? If any are possible, I would love to read them. And if not, could you share as many deleted scenes as possible (even if characters are acting out of character) and any bonus content from giveaways or special editions?
Hi Evelynn. I’m so happy you loved S&D! While I won’t be writing any new bonus content for the series, I do plan on sharing bonus content from the three preorder campaigns when I’m finished drafting the submission package for my current project. Only so many hours in a day! Please be patient with me. 🥲
No, I won’t be. I recycled most deleted scenes in some way, and I’m not comfortable sharing the ones I didn’t. I’m sorry! I hope the bonus content will be enough to say goodbye. 🖤
I love your books so much. I found yours around the time I started to find my love for reading again. I went to barnes and noble and was looking at books based on the cover (I know I know, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but in the case i’m glad I did) and unintentionally picked up 3 books, all with a snake on the cover. With your favorite quote you shared from blood and honey and the time of my life I started reading your books was in hindsight, way more telling of my transformative time than I would have guessed. All this to say, thank you for writing a story, world, and characters that mean so much to me. 🩶
I love this so much! I found S & D a couple years ago and immediately fell in love. I have loved each and every one of these books and honestly this made me tear up a little.
Ahhh that was me at the Frisco tour stop! I was so nervous and probably a jumbled mess that day, but thank you for being so kind and for visiting Texas during your tour! I've truly grown up with the Serpent & Dove universe and its amazing characters, and I appreciate all of the effort you've put in to create these novels. Though the stories of this universe are coming to an end, I greatly look forward to your future projects (and newsletter posts🙂)! Thank you for everything!❤️
These books mean so much to me. I read 'Serpent and Dove ' 2 years ago and it was the first book ever I read readed in less that a week. That book made me realize how much I love fantasy and it was the first book that made me forget I was reading... After I've finished the book i read the rest of the series and with every sentence I became more and more invested in the story of those caracters. After I finished 'Gods and Monsters' I was sobbing for several reasons. In first place because it was meant to be the last book from that universe and I was sad because I tought that I will never see those caracters again. Also, the epilogue was very suitable for the situation I was in. In that period I lost some people I really loved and that epilogue made me see all the situation different, less sad and more hopefull. When I've heard that will be a new book from this universe I was so happy and 'The Scarlet Veil' became my favorite book from all the time.^^ I didnt finished 'The Shadow Bride' yet. I want to read it slower, to make to last longer. So... Thank you! Thank you for making me discover myself in that journey I had with those books! Thank you for making me enjoy reading more! Thank you for making these books and the caracters I love that much! <3
I first read Serpent and Dove while waiting in my daughter’s kindergarten school pickup line. We have moved twice since then but Lou always stays with me and gives me comfort when I’m homesick or lonely. Thanks so much for bringing these beautiful people to life. Side note- I wanted to go to the Frisco event but had Covid and I’ll be forever sad. *cries into sticky bun*
Oh Shelby. I hold such gratitude and admiration for your words. I vividly remember reading Serpent & Dove for the first time all those years ago. It *changed* me as a reader and a writer.
Thank you for this article, and thank you so much for these stories. 🖤 Happy release ✨
Thank you so much for writing these books. ♥️ Celie fighting for the place she belongs and finding it will always be with me. I loved The Shadow Bride and shed some tears when it came to the end. 🦋💙 Congratulations and thank you!
