Little windows into spring {6.9.25}
...and I sold my adult debut! 🧚🏻✨
It’s been awhile since I’ve written anything here, but I promise I’ve been making the most of that time by reading, resting, and—drumroll, please—selling my adult debut! We just closed on the deal last week, and though I can’t share anything official yet, I am absurdly excited about this book. I had more fun writing the sample pages, and even the dreaded synopsis, than I’ve had in a really long time—which is hopefully a good sign of things to come as I dive back into the manuscript this week. I’ll share more as soon as I can, but in the meantime, here are some little windows into my April, May, and early June.
Pictured throughout are houseplants miraculously living past their usual lifespan of a few short weeks. I have a notoriously brown thumb, but—gasp—I’ve been paying closer attention to their light and watering needs this time around, and turns out that’s all I’ve needed to do all along! Shocking, I know. That plant way down in the last grid, middle left, has become my fifth child. It was so small back in February. 🥹
I’ve also gotten really into air dry clay during my hiatus? It’s something creative to do with my hands that has nothing to do with writing, which has been great. Not that I’ve been particularly great at it. Yesterday I tried to make a pretty flower tray, and it somehow turned into a giant, and frankly weird, plate and bowl contraption for chips and dip. Rather unfortunate, as I don’t think air dry clay is safe for food. However, I really love how my sleepy goose turned out {pictured below, top right}. He now sits beside my mugs at the coffee bar.

The sample fell at somewhere around 23k words, and I’m aiming for the first draft to be around 140k. Lots of ground to cover in the coming months!
